Spiritual Development (2019)

2019 marks the 33rd year for the Manitoulin Youth Conference, which has provided the opportunity for young people throughout the world to come together around the study of God's Word, and to discuss the scriptures for our edification. The youth conference was founded on the principles of Malachi 3:16, "Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name."

This year we look forward to a study of Paul’s Letter to the Colossians. In just four chapters we will see an importance placed on the excellency of Christ, a focus on “Christ in you, the hope of Glory” (Col 1:27). Paul uses his words to the Colossians to lead their minds to their savior, he focuses their minds on the reward made possible by his sacrifice, and as a result, spends a great deal of the letter highlighting ways to position Christ as first place in their lives. If they could do that, the reward would follow. It is a work of slow development, and it’s one that all of us have been called to complete as well – how impactful then these words are for each of us!

Young people attending the 2019 Youth Conference must be prepared by completing this year's study, which includes completion of the workbook. The committee has reviewed the workbook produced by Bro. Stephen Macfarlane and Bro. Bryan Styles to ensure the amount of work required of each attendee is reasonable. Completion of the workbook is a pre-requisite for attending the Youth Conference, as the success of the discussion groups and the conference is dependant upon it. Even if you decide to study in a different manner, you must still complete the workbook. If you are not committed to this, we would ask that you please do not register. If you find that you register and then change your mind along the way, please cancel your registration so that someone who has, or will, complete the workbook can attend.

The more prepared each attendee is in advance of the Conference, the more the Conference will be enjoyed by the attendees. The Youth Conference makes use of daily discussion groups and coming prepared ensures the discussion groups will be invigorating and lively, and the Conference will serve to stimulate Bible study and the application of God's principles in our daily lives.

If you choose to register, we assume you will complete the workbook and ask that you set yourself a schedule and work to that end. It is entirely your responsibility to update us on the website as it relates to your progress.

As we see events in the world heralding the imminent return of our Lord, we are eternally grateful to our Heavenly Father for opportunities such as this to come apart from the world to discuss the scriptures, that we might all grow "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord".

    Love in Christ,
    The Committee:
